After some small degree of use, I realized today that CoComment works backwards. That is to say, yes, I do want to be able to collate my comments on other blogs so they aren't orphaned. And, yes, I am willing to do the extra step involved -- to click on the CoComment bookmarklet thing in the toolbar -- but its backwards.
They should roll out a plug-in for the major blog services so that CoCommenting is natively supported. I, as a blogger, would install the plugin, and then CoComment could look the user up based on the email address they leave behind in the comment fields. I hope they are at work on that end.
Oh, and I want to be able to tag my comments, and others', for later access.

I like the way they have it set up...a little. I like that I get control over everything as a user. I just wish there was some way to see the comments that other people make that aren't using CoComment. Since such a small percentage of the world uses CoComment, it doesn't seem very effectual to only track CoComment comments. Also, if they were able to track everybody's comments then when competitors come out, the comment tracking market wouldn't get segmented. I could use one service, you could use another, and we would both be able to keep track of all the comments in the entry with comment on.

Another problem I have with CoComment being "backwards" is that I often forget to hit the CoComment toolbar item when posting a comment. It seems like this service could incorporate the features of gravatar and become a comprehensive product.

On behalf of the coComment team, thanks for using the service and thanks a lot for your feedback! Just wanted to let you know that we're actively working to address all the points you and other commenters have raised here, (the backwards issue, tagging, tracking all conversations, etc.) as mentioned recently on our teamblog...

... you'll see these and other improvements soon!
