My good friend Ted Rheingold of Dogster started in on me at the recent Under The Radar party, telling me, basically, enough with the starting from zero meme. Well, for Ted and everyone else who is griping about it, there are only 37 days left. It is a 90 day experiment. Suck it up.
I started /Message 53 days ago (the slash is silent by the way -- a number of folks asked me about "slash message" at that same party), with a Technorati rank of over one million. Since the last update /Message has edged into the top 5000 at Technorati. Moved to 4,586 (514 links from 269 sites), up from Day 48's 5,367 (448 Links from 239) sites, up an additional 781 notches. Still averaging more than 100 notches per day. I still believe I will be in or near the top 1000 by the end of 90 days.

Relative to the Conversational Index: CI=(Comments=216+TrackBacks=120)/Posts=167, so the CI is just over 2. Maybe Ted's point is well-taken, since the Starting From Zero posts are dragging down the CI for the blog: those posts get few comments, compared to the big chewy posts like those on Advisory Capital or Social Architecture, or product reviews. But I aim -- for once -- to finish what I started. Only 37 days left, and then I promise to stop.

Perhaps you can offer a feed from /Message that filters out the starting from zero posts? It would be a sort of "premium content" feed.
