Technorati has once again confused me.
Two days ago was Day 62 of /Message's existance, and the Technorati rank was 3,868 (621 links from 305 sites). Today, we have gone retrograde to 3,960 (614 links from 309 sites), moving backwards 92 notches.

So, I don't get it. Technorati says the following about how they calculate:
[from Site Performance and Improvement Update by Adam Hertz]For URL search, we've been looking closely at how we calculate the number of links and sources pointing to a blog, and we've made some tweaks to the display to better surface recent blog activity. Technorati now displays the total number of links from blogs over the last 6 months. Up until now, we displayed a count of all links from blog homepages, which tended to weight more highly blogs that have been around for a long time, even if they have not been posting recently.
To lose links, they would have to either fall outside the six month window (not possible with /Message -- it's 64 days old) or be deleted (which is possible, I guess -- people are rethinking their blogrolls or something). I can't think what else it could be.

It could be that Technorati is broken...

From prior conversations (many months ago), Sifry explained to a group of us that the rank was calculated by links from the main page of a blog, not from each post. I am way further down the list from you (26-27,00) but I have fluctuated from 24,000ish to 38,000ish over the past month - dipping really low when more time passes between posts - and most of my blogging has been done since Web 2.1 back in October (less than 5 months ago).
But you are completely right - it makes no sense and possibly won't for some time...

Ever since Corante magically switched to subdomain hosting without telling anyone I've had problems, now pubsub refuses to show any stats and technorati, well I'm in the process of climbing from 70k back to my usual 8k, at least I hope so.
The Winer stuff is serious yet overly dramatic, funny re: get a hobby.
A measure map invite if you please. My pages are loading like molasses what with 3-5 stats packages loading, time to consolidate.
Nice new design, clean and fast.
