More on BlogHer
I have turned up a few more discouraged BlogHer attendees and non-attendees:
- Sherri, who writes at The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, created a big stir with her I hate mommy bloggers post, which I found amusing.
- Melinda Casino is very discouraged, as she relates in detail at Goodbye Grassroots BlogHer, suggesting that money and monoculture has devalued the conference experience down to nearly nothing.
- Tara Hunt's Blogher and the issue of unctuousness harmonizes with some of the points I made, although she is a a woman and a mother, which I am not. But I agree that the targeting of the conference seemed off for me.
Anyway, it turns out that my ambivalence is shared by others, and in some cases, antipathy to the conference might be a better characterization.

"Marianne Richmond made nice noises about my recent BlogHmm post in her Measuring Success post."
That would be Shelley Powers. (Or did two separate bullet points merge inadvertently?)
FYI, thanks.

Hi - I think that first one is Shelley Powers. :) But if Marianne Richmond has written something, I'd be interested in that, as well.
I saw you around the conference, kind of hard to miss being one of the few men, and also wearing a beret...

Stowe, I had nice thoughts about your BlogHmm post but did not write anything...unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the conference and therefore only feel justified in reading other people's posts; Melinda's, for instance provided a heartfelt and thoughtful perspective.
Some posts were no doubt heartfelt, but made me wonder if they WERE thinking.
