SwarmTeams

I got a chance to fiddle with a new team communication solution called Swarm-It, from SwarmTeams. Basically, it is a web-managed communication app that allows you to message group members using their email, IM, and/or SMS handles. Creating groups and adding users seemes to be a breeze. Sending messages is simple, at least from the web interface:

Threadstart

All messages sent in a group are managed in a "messageboard", like so:

Threads

Users can reply from their email and SMS tools, and in principle from IM -- ICQ, MSN, and Skype are supported -- although I could never get the Skype test message to work with my account.

I guess users could login and turn various messaging channels on or off, but I could imagine just turning them all on, even if I would then receive multiple copies of the message on my email, SMS, and IM tools.

The company has a more sophisticated Swarm-Pro version intended for larger organizations, while the basic version I used is designed for individuals, as well as a Swarm-Web tool for embedding into a website or blog.
