Mihai Parprita on Google Reader Greasemonkeyed Into Gmail
Mihai Parprita jiggled a greasemonkey script to experiment with Google Reader integration into Gmail:
[from Google Reader Redux]You may wonder why I felt the need to write a Greasemonkey script for my own product. The answer is that integrations are hard and generally require a lot of effort before you can even determine if they are worthwhile. Greasemonkey lets you experiment with UI concepts with minimal effort necessary from either team (I had to make exactly one change to Reader to better support this script, and that was the ability to force list view to be used, even if expanded view is normally selected). I can't really say what, if any, our integration plans are, but enough users have asked for something like this that I thought writing the script was the most expedient way to provide this (unofficial) feature.
I've installed the script, and what a godsend. I particularly like the splitscreen view -- with email above and feeds below. It looks like all the Google Reader shortcuts work, although you have to go to the non-integrated version to get the cheatsheet.

What I am really hoping for, is a Nerdvana view: where the buddy list in the left margin is pulled to the middle, and both emails and feed are displayed with the buddies' presence. What I care about most is people, and want email, IM, and feed all pulled together in the buddylist. Someday, someday.
[pointer from Googling Google]

Wow, and I thought I had a whole bunch of GTalk contacts ;-)
Aside from that, I installed the script but I didn't see split view anywhere. How did you get it?

If you are reading feed items, and one is selected, and then you click on inbox, you can get a split screen.
