Nakama

Sutha Kamal pinged me to let me know that the project he has been working on for some time, Nakama, has gone live. Nakama is a mobile photo and video sharing service.

[via email]

The quick "how it works" pitch is:

  • Take a picture or video with your phone.
  • Use normal MMS (no software required) to send it to us
  • We will post it to Flickr, Blogger, TypePad, etc.
  • We'll CALL YOU BACK, let you say a few words, record what you've said and add it as an audio tag on the picture (check out culture shock and sanity check to see a sample)
  • You can view other pictures and videos on your phone... actually, on ANY phone on ANY carrier. We are totally browser based (no client), so that there's a consistent, seamless experience when you share stuff with your peers.

I am in Europe at the moment, so I haven't fooled with the service, yet.

The company seems to be heading is a good direction. I particularly like the idea of "voice tagging" photos from the phone. Looking forward to getting on and trying it out.
