Paul Graham on The 18 Mistakes That Kill Startups

I like Paul Graham's list of The 18 Mistakes That Kill Startups.

A few things jumped out, like the "burn the boats" theory:

Most founders of failed startups don't quit their day jobs, and most founders of successful ones do.

I also get a kick out of the necessary surrealism involved with including "taking too much money" and "taking too little money" in the same list. Also "shipping too early" and "shipping too late." Suggests that getting it just right is very hard. Most startups fail, after all.

Oh, and that 10th largest city on the planet - Houston - better get out fast. Paul's assertion that Houston can kill your startup is a little bit over the top...
