Yahoo Integrated Chat in Yahoo Mail

Yahoo demoed a new capability in Yahoo Mail, something that looks pretty much like Gtalk integrated into Gmail. Pretty interesting. I have long advocated the notion of being able to change the tempo of communication more easily: going back and forth from synchronous to asynchronous communication. But this is really just catching up to Google.

I think we're actually passing Google on this one. First, we're connecting to a much larger network of users. Second, I think we've significantly reduced the switching cost from going back and forth between mail and IM. We allow you to take a mail message you're currently composing and turn it into an IM. Or you can take an IM session and turn it into a mail message. As far as I can tell, you can't do that with the Gtalk integration in Gmail.
