del.icio.us Tagometer

I saw [via Techmeme] that Del.icio.us has released some new blog widgets.

Here's a tag cloud, designed for sidebar use (although, its size and other properties are not customizable -- I can't squeeze it down for my sidebar, for example):

And a one-liner, designed for individual entries:

They have odd behavior in this setting. The top widget, designed for use in the sidebar of the main page works fine in the main index, but shows nothing when looking at the individual post, which I guess makes sense, since the individual entry has had no del.icio.us tags associated with it. Same issue with the second, although even when I create the del.icio.us bookmark for the post, nothing seems to happen.

I've posted a little guide to changing the look and feel of the del.icio.us tagometer.

http://chimprawk.blogspot.com/2006/12/customizing-delicious-tagometer-in-two.html

The tagometer isn't customizable from the help pages, like some of the other widgets and includes. But, unlike those widgets, this one is entirely customizable via CSS - for which building a wizard is a bit more difficult. But, some fans in the blogosphere have started poking at and writing about how to tweak the CSS.

As for index page vs individual post pages - there's a "manual mode" for the tagometer that jumps out of the context of the simpler one-liner include. Hoping to have some docs on this usage pretty soon, though you can find blog entries on this too.

Oh! And also: Sometimes you'll find that the data shown in the tagometer lags behind the latest info by a little bit - this is del.icio.us caching data so as to better weather the storm of requests by all the blogs including the javascript
