Webifying The Living Room
Fred Wilson must have been reading my mind. He wrote a post called Bringing The Web Into Our Living Room, which is exactly what I am doing in my Reston home.
I have a Mac Mini set up, right now, mostly for watching movies. I am going to buy a larger LCD TV on my next visit there, and I will have some good photos.
I actually have donated all the VHS to charity: I can't stand fooling with it any more.

Stowe, I did this very thing (Mac Mini and all) in my living room just last weekend. The Mac Mini hooks into the amp for audio, 42" Panasonic HD plasma for video. It controls all the downloads, iPhoto Library, iTunes (>10000 tracks). No other accounts on the Mini (apart from admin) for anything, although there could easily be.
I'm using equinux's very excellent MediaCentral (http://equinux.com/us/products/mediacentral/index.html) as the HTPC software, rather than Front Row. The added functionality is worth the US$30 price tag.
I haven't yet added a DVB-T tuner, but I watch so little TV that I can wait.
My wife thinks it's kind of overkill, but she tolerates it.
