Google To Buy Plaxo?

The rumoring goes on about Google's supposed acquisition of Plaxo.

The inclusion of Plaxo's Pulse into Google's social plans is reasonable, and Plaxo's older technology -- the synching of contacts across various email services -- fits into Google's plans for its email/calendaring and other productivity/coordination tools.

I also believe that Owen Thomas may be onto something:

An acquisition would also keep Smarr [Plaxo's platform architect] and the technology he's developed out of Mark Zuckerberg's hands at Facebook.

In a week given over to the Microsoft / Yahoo takeover, here's another possible defensive play that could be doubling (or more) the actual value of a company.
