I Am Still Confused
Not the best pass at trying to describe a new social tool:
[via email]
Many of you are confused as to what lissn is. To explain, lets jump back about 15 years. ~~~ The Internet was people. AOL keywords were fun, but the majority of those online were chatting in rooms or 1 on 1. Good times! Then websites arrived and chat rooms became ghost towns and wastelands which spawned social networks and blogs. Chat rooms themselves never really evolved.
The social, real-time internet is coming back.
Um. Wha?
I agree that a lot of what is going on in today’s social web owes some of its DNA to instant messaging and chat rooms, but to say that the ‘social, real-time internet is coming back’ is just baloney, sliced thin.
(Maybe the guys behind lissn are hoping we will go back to a model of millions of thematic chat rooms instead of the open folloer model, but I don’t think we will.)
