Flickr, Twitter, Pictures, and My Hat

My Hat, originally uploaded by Stowe Boyd.

So this spells the end of /Slash, my photolog at Tumblr.

I have been trying all manner of new ways to fool with pictures over the past months. None of them has been very satisfactory:

  • I started posting photos to a Tumblr blog, but the UI isn’t as interesting as whene I am posting random weird stuff from the web. And unless the folks I want to share photos with are tumbling themselves, there isn’t much sociality involved.
  • I tried using BrightKite, but there’s no way to segment photos from all the other posts. And then I stopped using BrightKite.
  • I tried using various Twitter oriented apps, like MobyPicture and img.ly, but they all fail for different indeosyncratic reasons.

My Twitter stream has become fairly important, but I don’t necessarily want to post every single picture I take there. And now that I have moved to iPhone, I want to be able to easily upload from there.

So, I will report on what happens after a few weeks.
