I can think of a dozen angles that Phyllis Korkki might have used for a piece on a study about internet use by Forrester. I guess it was inevitable that she starts by ‘balancing’ the piece with a jab:

People sometimes criticize the Internet as a colossal time waster. But it also has a role in releasing people’s creative and social energies, as a new report from Forrester Research points out.
Korkki then reports that a growing number of people are becoming ‘creators’ — writing blogs, posting comments, videos, and other materials online.
Just remember: they will continue to say what we are doing here, online, is illegitimate, immoral, and irrelevant.
