Power Twitter Supports Google Maps

I got a tweet this morning from Narendra Rocherolle (@narendra) of 83º about a new map rendering feature in Power Twitter, the new client they’ve built for Twitter. They have introduced a map rendering capability:

Power Twitter Supports Google Maps, originally uploaded by Stowe Boyd.

The problem is that you have to shorten the URL first, before posting it into Twitter or Power Twitter. Apparently the commas aren’t handled correctly by Tinyurl, the service that Twitter relies on for URL shortening.

I used bit.ly, which worked fine, but took a number of steps. Would be better if Twitter changed to bit.ly, or Tinyurl fixed the comma problem.

I didn’t try Yahoo or other mapping services.
