Kara Swisher says that Carol Bartz has been offered and will accept the CEO spot at Yahoo.

One thing is sure: Bartz does [k]now tech, unlike former CEO Terry Semel. And she also know how to run a company like clockwork, unlike outgoing CEO Jerry Yang, who–while inspirational–has had a rocky tenure.
I can’t say it’s a pretty picture, but Bartz — formerly head of Autodesk, and a serious technology executive — and can manage that side of the business. She inherits a batch of media types, so presumably they can balance that side for her.
By the way, I disagree with Kara that Jerry Yang was inspirational: he was a mess, and he deserves to be skinned alive for not taking the deal from Microsoft when it was offered. Just absolute hubris on his part, and that of his senior team.
So: the big question is, who is going to get axed, and who will Bartz be bringing in? I anticipate a reasonably significant reorganization in the works. Is Susan Decker in or out? I am betting she’ll be gone in less than 12 months, taking a job as CEO of some smaller tech company.
[Update: Decker has resigned beating Bartz to the punch]
