Sarcmark?

This is what we really need. For those who want to make sure their sarcasm is recognized for what it is, Sarcasm Inc., a Michigan company, has developed the “SarcMark” to identify sarcastic comments in e-mail and text messages.

“Never again be misunderstood! Never again waste a good sarcastic line on someone who doesn’t get it!” the company said on its Web site. It offered such examples as “I love my job” and “Because that was so much fun the last time we did it.”

The software sells for $1.99.

A new punctuation mark for sarcasm? Hmm, maybe. But I don’t like the idea that we have to pay this company for the privilege. How about ‘:'? Looks like a face with a sardonic grin.

Hey, Brian. Thanks. I love this job:\
