A Wishlist: Blogtalkradio.com
The folks at Blogtalkradio.com are working overtime to make the software more usable, but I still find mysleft wanting new features.
One example: I am regularly having guests join the show, such as Ross Mayfield last week. I send these guests the same phone number to call in as regular callers to the show. But then I have to watch for them to call in, and I have to select them on my host switchboard so they can speak. Since I only have five call-in slots, each guest takes one of those slots up. What I would really like is to have a dedicated number for guests to call in, one that is different from regular callers, and one that is different from my host number. Along those same lines, I would like to be able to call out, so that I could bring people on the show more spontaneously.
Blogtalkradio.com has recently improved the controls for uploaded audio files, and added a countdown feature to indicate the end of the show is coming. Great. But I would like to have my closing music start at the right point to close out the show. If my closing music is 1 minute 15 seconds long, I would like it to commence at 1 min 16 seconds before the end of the show. On hearing that, my guests and I would know that its time to close down, and I would then thank the guests and announce whatever is coming next week.
I have still not tried being a lowly listener to some other show, but I plan to do that tonight sometime.
